17 July 2023

Today at 12:26 p.m. on the A21 Turin-Piacenza at km 125+000 South, there was a pileup involving 2 heavy goods vehicles crossing onto the highway. As a result of the event, one of these vehicles went to collide against the strut of overpass no.111, between Broni and Casteggio, causing a serious injury.

Emergency teams from the dealership, traffic police, fire brigade, emergency medical services and technical consultants promptly responded. Given the damage to the overpass, it was decided to block traffic in both directions to assess the best technical solutions to be adopted. As a result of the inspection and verifications carried out, it was decided that overnight the overpass would be demolished for later reconstruction.

At the same time there were 3 other accidents involving other heavy vehicles at km 112+000 South (1:23 pm), 119+000 South (1:44 pm) and 110+000 South (1:56 pm).

Traffic is blocked between the Broni and Casteggio exits with mandatory exit from the highway and subsequent re-entry. It is recommended to follow A1/A4 for direction Turin and A26/A7 for direction Piacenza, alternatively SS10 Padana Inferiore.

Currently on site are technicians and workers from the subsidiary Itinera and the concessionaire SATAP, whose intervention will allow the highway to reopen by 10 a.m. tomorrow.
